Hiiden nyrkki is the Finnish for Giant's fist. This is a creation by famous Finnish art glass designer Timo Sarpaneva in the 50s.

The iten is made of clear glass that is matted by dipping the item in strong acid, thus creating an entchanting velvety surface.

Timo Sarpaneva (1926-2006), is one of Finland's most famous art glass designers. His pioneering glass work has received much recognition internationally and he has been awarded several times for his stunning art glass designs. He is the man who in 1954 got famous for having created "the most beautiful item in the world" according to House Beautiful -magazine. (That was 'the Orchid' that was exhibited at the Triennal in Milan 1954)
