This delightful bowl by Tapio Wirkkala is called Jäkälä (=lichen) in Finnish and was in production 1950-1964. This design is also known as the "Finger Vase", and was presented and celebrated at the Triennale in Milan 1951.
These items have very nice characteristics and the incredibly silky smooth, velvety surface is also sensational to touch. This particular bowl is a very neat representative from this group of items.
