Siberian Jay 2011-2015 - Oiva Toikka Birds Finland (In box)
Siberian Jay by Oiva Toikka was in production 2011-2015. It is called "Siperian Kuukkeli" in Finnish. It is described on page 107 in the book "In Oiva's Wonderland". This bird is very seldom for sale. It is slightly smaller than the Mountain bird (the "Kelokuukkeli"-bird), that was in production 2005-2007 and the Grey Jay Finnfest bird from 2010.
This one comes in its original box, and is in an excellent condition.
The nomenclature of these Kuukkeli-birds can be confusing as the "Mountain bird" is called "Kelokuukkeli" in Finnish, 'kelo' beeing the Finnish word for a dry needleless silver grey pine tree and 'kuukkeli' is the bird called siberian jay in English. So then "Siperian Kuukkeli" would translate into Siberian Jay, but this bir is obviously officially named "Siberian Jay" in English. Then to add to the confusement there is the very rare "Kuukkeli" made 1986 only for Napapiirin lasi, the Iittala Shop in "Santa Claus' Village" in Rovaniemi city in Lapland. This bird is usually called 'Napapiirin Kuukkeli' in Finnish, or 'The Kuukkeli for Napapiirin Lasi', and was sold only in that particular Iittala shop in limited numbers in 1986-87. Its official name in English is "Kuukkeli", and it is signed O. Toikka Napapiiri. (Napapiiri is a Finnish word for the arctic circle).
