This is an early ceramic art piece from 1944 by famous Finnish designer Rut Bryk (1916 - 1999). After Art Shool 1936-39 in Helsinki Rut Bryk started as ceramicist at Arabia in 1942.
At a quick glimpse this piece seems like a nice stilleben with summer flowers and a bee on a delicate blue background, but on closer inspection you will notice that, thanks to skillful use of different surface structures and thickness of paint layers and glace, this piece of ceramic art is more than a conventional picture. See close up views!
On the backside is written in Finnish, with pencil, Arabia kasvit keramiikka (= Arabia plants ceramics), which probably was written there for listing purposes of this piece or perhaps for an exhibition.
