The eye catching Ruby Bird is a classic design by famous professor Oiva Toikka, introduced in 1996. This bird is made of real ruby red glass, which was a difficult color to produce, as it needed special procedures, and easily remained with some yellow tan after the second heating. The yellow tan shows most clearly in indoor spot light. In tube light it is not so obvious.
At the moment we have two beautiful Ruby Birds in real ruby red color, with different coloured lustred spots and golden metallic heads. We photographed these also together so that you on the last two pictures can see how great individuals these hand made birds are. Both have that yellow tan but it shows in different places. The bird that is for sale here is the smaller and chubbier one. Chose your favorite!
These birds are splendid as Christmas birds.
Later Ruby Birds were produced only in cranberry red color, which was an easier color to work with. In these the red color looks a little different.
