Ruby Bird is a classic design by Oiva Toikka that was introduced already in 1996. It was produced in ruby red glass, which was a color that needed special procedures, and hence was later replaced by cranberry red glass, that needed less time consuming procedures, and gave more consistent colors. The ruby red colored glass had a tendency to have some yellowness. The yellowness shows best in indoor spot light.

This elegantly shaped bird, with beautifully colored spots, is signed O. Toikka Nuutajärvi II and because of that the price is reduced. In this bird the metallic lustred suface on the head has not come out in the ordinary way. Instead this bird has tiny faint bluish stripes within the semilustred surface. This shows more or less depending on the light conditions. But we assume that this is the reason for grading this very elegant bird II. Study the photos.
