This is an impressive sized handsome Red-Throated Diver bird measuring 35,5cm from beak to tail. It has several layers of glass starting from white inside and on top a clear layer and then on top of that a handsome white and dark green filigree. On the bottom there is lilac color on the tail end.
This model is illustrated on page 63 in the book "Toikan Lasilinnut-Toikka's Glass Birds" and on page 32 in the book "Birds by Toikka" and on page 75 in the book "In Oiva's Wonderland". This vintage model was in production in the early 90s.
Design by famous professor Oiva Toikka and hand made in legendary Nuutajärvi glass factory in Finland.
This bird that is not signed, is from a collection that belonged to a person who worked at the Nuutajärvi glass factory.
