These jam jars belong to a very popular table ware set by Arabia named Pomona. These full size jars are 9,5 cm in diameter and 8,5cm high without lid and hold 4dl.
The popular decoration patterns are designed by Raija Uosikkinen, the chief decorator at Arabia from 1947 to 1986.
The shape of the jar is designed by Kaj Franck.
These items were introduced in the mid sixties.They are labeled on the underside either with the Arabia crown and the text ARABIA MADE IN FINLAND and a numberserie that indicates the month and year when the item was produced, or just with the Arabia crown and the text ARABIA WÄRTSILÄ FINLAND, which label was in use in the early seventies.
We do not recommend washing these items in the dishwasher, because those chemicals could make the printed pattern pale.
We are happy to be able to provide three full sized Jam Jars with different patterns. Two of these are with lid.
These two jars with lids are in a very good vintage condition, and have only minor normal wear due to age. The third one is without lid and has a small enamel chip at the inside of the opening, and also has one dark spot under the glace at the inside bottom. The jars are named in the pictures with letters as indicated below.
A: Lingonberries w. lid, early 70:s (Very Good)
B: Strawberries w. lid 9-70 (Very Good)
C: Plums without lid, early 70:s
(with a small enamel chip at the inside of the opening)
