A quite special individual of the Marsh Duck design. This individual has very much thicker glass than usually, which gives this individual richer colors. The head of this special individual also has an exceptionally strong metallic luster.
While a Marsh Duck typically weighs around 300g this one weighs about 500g. See the last two pictures for comparison to an ordinary Marsh Duck.
The Marsh Duck was designed by famous professor Oiva Toikka for the Birds of Passage collection. The bird was in production in years 1991-1995 and 1997.
The Marsh duck changes color in different light because it is made of neodymium glass! It is light blue in fluorescent tube light and purple in bright daylight or warm light, and shows many different shades in between depending on the current wavelength of the light used.
