The Norrskär lighthouse mug was produced in 2010 in an edition of 1000 pieces. The lighthouse was built in 1848 and is 21m high. It is situated in the Kvarken archipelago. This light house was manned as late as into the year 1987!
The lighthouse mugs present enchanting archipelago themes that honor the old lighthouses in our archipelago and the cultural heritage that these represent. In the old times these lighthouses were manned. Nowadays lighthouses operate automatically. Most of the ones presented on the mugs are still in duty today.
The first six mugs were produced in 2002 in editions of 500 pieces each. By today over 60 different mugs have been designed to this series by Anneli Stenros.
While many buy these lighthouse mugs purely to bring atmosphere to the breakfast table some try to collect all of these. The mugs are dishwasher safe. We now have some of the old sought for mugs available (see last picture).
