The Marjaniemi lighthouse mug was produced in 2009 in an edition of 1000 pieces. Marjaniemi Lighthouse was built 1871 and it is 25m high. It is situated in the Bothnian Bay ca 50km from Oulu city.
The lighthouse mugs present enchanting archipelago themes that honor the old lighthouses in our archipelago and the cultural heritage that these represent. In the old times these lighthouses were manned. Nowadays lighthouses operate automatically. Most of the ones presented on the mugs are still in duty today.
The first six mugs were produced in 2002 in editions of 500 pieces each. By today over 60 different mugs have been designed by Anneli Stenros to this series.
While many buy these lighthouse mugs purely to bring atmosphere to the breakfast table some try to collect all of these. The mugs are dishwasher safe.
