The lighthouse mugs present enchanting archipelago themes that honor the old lighthouses in our archipelago and the cultural heritage that these represent. In the old times these lighthouses were manned. Nowadays lighthouses operate automatically. Most of the ones presented on the mugs are still in duty today.
The first six mugs were produced in 2002 in editions of only 500 pieces each. By today over 60 different mugs have been designed to this series by Anneli Stenros.
'Lyökki' ('Lökö' in Swedish) lighthouse mug was produced in 2011 in an edition of 1000 pieces. The lighthouse was constructed in stone as early as in 1757, it is 16,5m high and is in the Bothnian Sea south-west of Nystad city.
While many buy these lighthouse mugs purely to bring atmosphere to the breakfast table some try to collect all of these. The mugs are dishwasher safe. We now have some of the old sought for mugs available (see last picture).
