The This is the 'Glosholm joulu' alias 'Glosholm Christmas' lighthouse mug that was produced in 2016 only, and in an edition of only 500 pieces.
Glosholm Lighthouse was built 1835 and was situated in Porvoo outer archipelago. It was 39,3m high. (That house was the model and inspiration for Tove Jansson when she created the house that the Moomins live in).
The lighthouse mugs present enchanting archipelago themes that honor the old lighthouses in our archipelago and the cultural heritage that these represent. In the old times these lighthouses were manned. Nowadays lighthouses operate automatically. Most of the ones presented on the mugs are still in duty today.
The first six mugs were produced in 2002 in editions of 500 pieces each. By today over 60 different mugs have been designed by Anneli Stenros to this series.
While many buy these lighthouse mugs purely to bring atmosphere to the breakfast table some try to collect all of these. The mugs are dishwasher safe. We now have some of the old sought for mugs available (see last pictures).
