Kuukkeli is a special bird that was designed by Oiva Toikka in 1986 for Napapiirin Lasi (= Napapiiri Glass Hut) at Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland. Napapiiri Glass hut was acquired by Nuutajärvi in 1986, and the Kuukkeli birds were made on license at the Glass Hut in Rovaniemi.
The body is grey with numerous different sized air bubbles and the tail has autumn orange-red colors. The head is normally clear with sharp corners however this bird has a black head. We have never before seen this model!
The NPL birds were sold at the tourist shop at "Santa Claus' village" at Rovaniemi in Lapland over 35 years ago and are very rarely seen for sale these days.
