Karuna is a small Special bird designed by Oiva Toikka, and was hand made at Nuutajärvi as a bonus gift for repeat customers buying a bird in year 2001. The Karuna special birds were not signed.
The Karuna Special bird 2001 is white with a pleasant frosted/matt surface. The beak is black and the bird has two small delicate red wattles. It has appropriately been called the "Golf Ball Bird" because its surface is covered with small dimples.
On the last picture you see our Karuna bird together with a somewhat similar very special bird, the "NIB bird" Ptarmigan for the Nordic Investment Bank (also from 2001). The NIB bird is of the same size, but is beige tanned and has a shiny surface. It also has red wattles, and it is called "Kiiruna" in Finnish.
