A stylish vase in purple and clear glass, design by famous Finnish designer Kaj Franck. These were in production 1960-1964. There were different color variants produced and also two different heights.
Thanks to the design and heavyness of the vase this vase is exceptionally steady. Also as a consequence of its heavyness this vase naturally has scratches at the bottom. These do not affect the beauty of this vase.
In this like in so many of Kaj Franck's designs the geometrical and proprtionate form, reflexions and the choice of color is what makes the trick.
On the last picture you see two different vases from this same era.
They are different but they have these characteristic features in common. In the thick bottom there is a square that makes fascinating reflexions to that vase and in this round purple vase there is an indentation with a nod in the center of the bottom that gives round reflexions to that part of the vase.
