Afro-American designer and graphic artist Howard Smith (1928-2021) was born in New Jersey, USA. He moved to Finland in 1962 and since then worked as a designer in Finland and was married to a Finnish ceramic artist, Erna Aaltonen.
The run free -collection by Howard Smith was in production at Arabia factory in the 90:s. The collection contains animals of the African savannah.
The hippopotamus is called "Carmen" and the giraffe is called "Harry".
Carmen is 12,5cm high and weighs 0,63kg. It is dark grey and there is a dark small bird resting on hippo's back.
Harry is 22cm high and weighs 0,57kg. It is purple-brown in color. Both items are in an excellent condition.
