Helena Tynell is best known for her Sun Bottles (also called ‘Flower bottles’) that were made 1964-1974 by Riihimäen lasi, Finland. The bottles were produced in four sizes: (4/4) is the largest, ca 32cm high; (3/4) ca 23cm; (2/4) ca 17cm and (1/4) is the smallest size and is ca 12,5cm high and fits slightly over 2dl of water. The decorative bottles come in several different shades of green, blue, yellow, red and brown. There are also clear ones. They are popular objects for interior decoration. Two of these bottles that we have available now are of a Special edition produced for Finnair. This can be seen as a very vague FINN AIR in raised glass letters on the neck of these bottles (see photos). Helena Tynell was a Finnish glass designer, who designed for Riihimäen lasi from 1946, and later moved to Germany where she designed for Limburg glass factory from 1976.
