A stunning vintage large Stump of Kalvola art vase by Tapio Wirkkala. It was designed in year 1947 and the model number for this large piece is 3844. The Stump of Kalvola model was also made in two smaller sizes, about 14cm and 11cm. This is the largest size that is a heavy about 19cm tall piece.

Tapio Wirkkala (1915–1985) was a multi-talented and ingenious designer. Wirkkala's design work ranged from glass design and sculpture to banknote design and graphics. During his active career, Tapio Wirkkala participated in international exhibitions and served for several years as the artistic director of the University of Art and Design Helsinki. He received numerous accolades, including three gold medals at the Milan Triennial, both in 1951 and in 1954. The glass objects Tapio Wirkkala designed for Iittala are among his most well-known works.
