The handsome Ruby Bird is a classic design by famous professor Oiva Toikka, introduced in 1996. This bird is made of ruby red glass, which was a difficult color to make, as it needed special procedures.
Hence later Ruby Birds (starting year 2014 at Iittala) were made in cranberry red color, which was an easier color to work with.
This individual is hand made at Nuutajärvi glass factory. This one is not loaded with spots so in this bird the beautiful ruby red color is dominating. The head is metallic lustred.
