A handsome large size individual of the "Species of Tern", a Caspian Tern with nice feathers and appearance.
"Species of Tern" was among the first designs with a split tail by Oiva Toikka. It was produced in a numbered series from year 1988-1992.
In Finnish this bird is called Räyskä, which is the Finnish name for Caspian tern. You find this model on page 40 in the book "Toikan Lasilinnut-Toikka's Glass Birds".
This bird was made in Finland in the legendary Nuutajärvi glass village. The design has a matte surface on the body, and the head is shiny black.
