Birger Kaipiainen (1915-1988) is one of the most successful and well known ceramic artists in Finland. His most famous designs were made at Arabia Ceramics factory.
The ELEGANCE wall plates were produced with 6 alternative decorations and were designed by Birger Kaipiainen as part of the Pro Arte collection by Arabia in the 80s. A numbered series was produced of each variant. The plates are decorated with flowers or fruits and berries or combinations of these. Plate variants 1, 2 and 3 are decorated mainly in shades of yellow.
This ELEGANCE /2 plate is number 34 in its series. It is in an excellent condition and comes in its original box with the certificate of authenticity still there. The plate also has a practical metallic hanging device.
The surface finish on this plate, as in many of Birger Kaipiainen's art plates, is slightly iridescent. The plate is not ment to be used for food or washed with strong chemicals.
