This is beautiful summer-fresh, oval 26 x 29cm wide plate of the Apila series designed by Birger Kaipiainen 1969. The plate is in a very good, almost unused condition. It is most probably of a later production, because it is signed 'Dishwasher proof', which was not the case with the very oldest items of this series.
Birger Kaipiainen (1915-1988) is one of the most successful and well known ceramic artists in Finland. The Apila table ware set, delicately decorated with Clover flowers and leaves, was introduced in the early seventies. Pieces of this beautiful, rare set are very sought for.
