The Firebird is part of the cute Birds of Passage collection, which constitutes of a series of twelve very different small sized birds that were designed by famous professor Oiva Toikka for mail order delivery in the early 90's.
You find the Firebird on page 69 in the new book "Toikan Lasilinnut - Toikka's Glass Birds".
On a somewhat blotchy intensive red body there are distinct dark brown slightly lustered spots and in this individual the head is of the same color as the spots are.
There exist a huge variation within the Firebird species when it comes to the head color and the tone of the red, or both. We added a picture with five very different Firebirds just to show this.
And very last there is a picture showing this firebird together with three other birds of the Birds of Passage series. Enjoy!
