This is a 160mm white and green 'Duo-' Aalto vase made as part of the 70 years jubilee collection in 2006 at Iittala. The vase is signed Iittala. And it comes in its original box and with a white linen cloth bag and a small leaflet that presents the whole jubilee collection of year 2006 (see close up views).
This vase is white on the outside and warm green on the inside.
The Aalto vase designed by famous architect Alvar Aalto is an icon of Finnish design. The first versions of it was presented in 1936 and these vases got much attention at the Paris World Fair in 1937. Since then the Aalto vase has in many different sizes and versions conquered the hearts of many generations world wide, and it has been produced in numerous different colors and color variants.
The elegantly folding glass is a perfect example of Alvar Aalto's free flowing imagination.

The vases are still today mouth blown into a mold at the Iittala glass factory in Finland. The production of one vase goes through 12 work stages, and every single Aalto vase is hand made.
