This is a classic white 160mm Aalto vase from the 90s, in a very good used condition.
It only has some harmless normal superficial scratches on the underside from the vase being moved around. It bears an Iittala sticker of the type that was in use from 1991-2001.
The Aalto vase designed by famous architect Alvar Aalto is an icon of Finnish design. The first versions of it was presented in 1936 and these vases got much attention at the Paris World Fair in 1937. Since then the Aalto vase in many different sizes and versions has conquered the hearts of many generations world wide. It has been produced in numerous different colors and color variants.
The elegantly folding glass is a perfect example of Alvar Aalto's free flowing imagination.
Last, for fun, we added pictures of this white vase together with a classic vintage 'black' - very dark blue vase. And also pictures of this vase together with a white-green 'duo'-vase from the 2006 jubilee collection which contained several duo-vases with a white outside combined with a colorful inside.
The Aalto vases are still today mouth blown into a mold at the Iittala glass factory in Finland. The production of one vase goes through 12 work stages, and every single Aalto vase is hand made.
