A rose vintage coffee cup saucer of the popular "sceenery" series by Arabia, Finland from the 1940-50s.
The pottery to this very popular series was designed by Reinhard Richter, and it included finally over 50 different pieces.
The sceeneries (castles, mills, carraiges etc) are old and came originally from England. The motives arrived to Arabia through Rörstrand in 1982, and were at that time in use only for a while by Arabia.
These motives were then rediscovered in the -40s, and rearranged for use on these many different pieces of pottery that were in production in blue color from 1941 to 1975. In the 40s and 50s also old rose, grey, green and brown patterns were used. The decorations were printed on the dishware using old copper printing techniques.
The saucer is 13,3cm in diameter, and the inner ring is 4,5cm. Its condition is very good, with very minor signs of wear. Last we have added a copy of a photo where you can see a coffee cup with its saucer. We only have a saucer for sale.
