This is a 100 Years Jubilee vase for Alvar Aalto, born in 1898! The vase is in delicate light green and was made in year 1998.
The Aalto vase designed by famous architect Alvar Aalto is an icon of Finnish design. The first version of it was presented in 1936 and got much attention at the Paris World Fair in 1937. Since then the Aalto vase in many different sizes and versions has conquered the hearts of many generations world wide. It has been produced in several different colors. The elegantly folding glass is a perfect example of Alvar Aalto's free flowing imagination.
The vases are still today mouth blown into a mold at the Iittala glass factory in Finland. The production of one vase goes through 12 work stages, and every single Aalto vase is unique.
